Dear Jason and colleagues

First of all, I want to show my gratitude to Jason to allow me using
this space for this email.

Second, as I commented you during our meeting, there is a calling for
projects in Latvia. One problem that we have is the lack of human
resources who works with our devices. We have the LOFAR station, two
antennas but in my case, I do not have enough experience as to make
observations. One easy way to brake this limitation is through a
project, because it will allow me to make short stays to gain
experience.

About, every year, the Latvian government calls for proposals of
projects with a grant of 100,000 euros per year (the total duration of
the project is three years).. I made a proposal for pulsar research
using our LOFAR station before, but it was not approved under the main
argument of my lack of experience in the topic.

Something that it is absolutely allowed is to have the supervision of
a senior researcher. In this conditions, the project is conducted by
both researchers (you and I) and obviously, some part of the grant is
directly for you as salary. The deadline of the calling is April 22.
Then, there exists a period of evaluation and the results are
announced on summer. Usually, the projects (and grants) starts on
January. As you know, an important result of this kind of projects i
the creation of human resources. We have one colleague that is ready
to make his Ph.D.

As I commented you, additionally to our full LOFAR station, we have a
32 meters Cassegrain antenna working in the frequency range from 0.3
to 22 GHz. It is already prepared for pulsar observation.

Is anyone interested to support us to introduce a project?
Thank you in advance for your support.

Have a nice day

Ar cieņu / Best regards
